The Future of Bariatric Surgery in the Era of GLP-1s

GLP-1 medications have changed the obesity treatment landscape and raised an important question: Where does bariatric surgery fit in the future? In this episode, Dr. Neichoy discusses how medications like semaglutide, tirzepatide, and “reta” are changing patient expectations, surgical decision-making, and the role of the bariatric surgeon. He’ll explore whether GLP-1s and surgery are truly competing treatments, or whether the future of obesity care may involve using them together for individualized, long-term results.
